1. Community member

2. Volunteer roles
Organizational and structural roles, including:
-Volunteer recruitment
-Organizational development
-Bookkeeping
-Grant writers / fundraisers
-Supporting with specific projects, such as:
-Educational Toolkit for Collective Living
-Collective Conversations (panel discussions)
-Content creation for social media channels, website and newsletters
-A new project you want to lead or collaborate with others on
-Networking and establishing partnerships with other alternative-living/ housing-related organizations
Event organizing (potlucks, online discussions, social events)
3. Board member *
-Attending a minimum of one 2hr board meeting every 2 months
-Actively participate in regular work parties focused within current projects (online meetings 2-4 times/month)
We are working on membership benefits; email us any ideas you may have for how to promote community and collaboration amongst collective houses.
We invite you to support some of our planned projects:
Workshops: offering workshops for the community to learn about techniques and skills related to collective living
Food Sharing: learning how to connect with one another’s needs by sharing resources together
Potlucks: our potlucks began as a tool for connecting people looking for homes with the people who have space; providing a warm atmosphere for breaking the ice and connecting with the greater community.
Building an Online Forum: Join our Facebook Page for announcements, and join our Facebook Group for Discussions around Collective Living! We want to encourage participation in the FB Group to provide an online forum for folks to connect and share ideas.
-We are welcoming to all people interesting in collective living, and who share our values around awareness of systemic oppression; but you can join whether you live in a collective house or not.
-All members must provide their legal name and physical address according to the BC Society Act. This information will be stored on the CHS servers in B.C. CHS's use of personal information is governed by the BC Personal Information Protection Act.
